Migration, Market Power, and Firms - 2026
When firms hold market power over both workers and consumers, migration's effects on welfare look fundamentally different from the canonical labor supply story. I show that migration raises productivity but leaves wages flat, as firms absorb the gain through wider wage markdowns while lower markups redistribute toward consumers. Market power, labor supply, and product demand together govern who wins and loses from migration.

Public Externalities of Universal Health Care Access - 2026
Colombia's 2021 amnesty gave nearly two million undocumented Venezuelan migrants full access to the public health system. We demonstrate that this saved Colombian lives: by insuring migrants, they moved their care out of crowded emergency rooms and into the regularly financed system that everyone shares. Covering the excluded turns out to protect the already-included.
